Holiday Spirit on Display on Madison Avenue
The 22nd annual Miracle on Madison Avenue presented by The Bank of New York Mellon was held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 and drew crowds of festive shoppers to the avenue. Over 100 participating Madison Avenue establishments generously contributed 20% of the day’s sales to The Children’s Aid Society’s health care programs.
The shopping kicked off at noon with an opening ceremony that featured The Children's Aid Society Chorus and some very special guests. Event Chair Tamara Tunie of Law & Order: SVU, attending Miracle for the third year in a row, and Honorary Chair Ivanka Trump, real estate executive and the avenue’s newest retailer, joined Robert Kelly, CEO of The Bank of New York Mellon, C. Warren Moses, CEO of Children’s Aid and Matt Bauer, head of the Madison Avenue BID for the ribbon cutting.
On the afternoon of December 4th, Ms. Tunie visited Children’s Aid’s Philip Coltoff Center at Greenwich Village to attend a Chorus rehearsal. As the children prepared for their annual Miracle appearance, Ms. Tunie listened appreciatively and even joined in on one song.
Not only did everyone have a wonderful time at Miracle on Madison Avenue, but most importantly, over $250,000 was raised for health care for children served by Children’s Aid.

One hundred percent of the net profit of Miracle on Madison Avenue will provide vital health services to underserved children – children that are most often not connected to primary physicians and are therefore not getting preventive care, the most important determinant of good health. Your support will help Children’s Aid tackle some of the toughest challenges of childhood poverty and sustain programs for the time needed to produce results.
